Sanitation and Public Health

Many households in North and South Kivu struggle to manage household waste because there is no public landfill, and the few companies that collect refuse only work with well-off families in certain upmarket neighbourhoods of the city.

In 2019, 500 households in the Nyabushongo neighbourhood (Goma, North Kivu) were made aware of the collection, sound management and disposal of wastewater, refuse and solid household waste.

Community work was carried out, and EUP BIGOMA is working with municipal and city authorities to turn this waste into a resource.
